Bush celebrates the Soviet “liberation” of Eastern Europe

I watched the C-Span recording of the Holocaust Memorial Day ceremonies at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. There the First Lady of the United States Laura Bush, the granddaughter of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, the ambassador of Israel and a host of others went on for hours with pomp and circumstance about the latest anniversary of the liberating of Nazi concentration camps by American troops in World War II. The very next item I saw on cable news was the announcement that Bush was going to be in Red Square to honor the Soviet Liberation of Eastern Europe in the Second World War. I thought about the incredible hypocrisy of the First Lady commemorating the Holocaust and shortly after the President of the United States celebrating the victory of a regime that had committed the worst Holocaust of human life in all of history.
