The Democrats are determined to make the election of 2006 a referendum on Bush and the war in Iraq. And, as of now, that is how history will likely record it.

But beneath the surface of the national election, a different plebiscite is being held, within the conservative movement, on the ideology George Bush imposed on Ronald Reagan’s party.

What are the elements of Bushite neoconservatism?

First, an interventionist foreign policy, using U.S. power to impose democracy and “end tyranny on this earth.” Afghanistan, Iraq and Lebanon are the laboratories and proving ground.

Second, “Big Government Conservatism,” as seen in the deficits, the dearth of vetoes, soaring social spending in wartime, the bulking up of the Department of Education and “faith-based initiatives” – LBJ-style cash grants to pastors and parsons for social-gospel work, to reap a harvest of gratitude from the pulpits in elections to come.

Third, a La Raza immigration policy, featuring amnesty and a “path to citizenship” for 12 million illegal aliens, pardons for all businesses that hired illegals and outsourcing of immigration policy to Corporate America to go abroad and hire workers for jobs here Americans cannot take at the wages offered. It’s after 2 a.m. in the morning, my deadline is tomorrow, and I have been beaten up by the local police and my right elbow is sorely hurting, but I need to write down exactly what happened to me today before I go to sleep. Otherwise I will forget important details.

I was harassed, beaten, and shocked with a Tazer-like gun in my front yard before my wife and children, and then abused for 6 hours by the ADL-trained local police. I have every reason to believe it is because of my journalistic investigation into 9/11. I have been threatened before in my career as a journalist, but this is the first time I have been intentionally beaten and abused – by the cops.

I have investigated 9/11 since it happened and looked into the many unanswered questions of the terror attacks. I discovered last year that I had had at least two FBI informants crawling around my house for years. This is the main reason I do not feel safe in the United States. It is also why I spend much of the time in Europe or at safe houses in this country, with fellow 9/11 researchers like Ellen Mariani and Eric Hufschmid. I have two small children.

I have only been at my old home in Hoffman Estates for a couple of weeks, mainly because my road-weary children dearly love this old red house, which is the only home they have ever known. It is just a simple Hoffman-Rosner suburban Chicago tract home that my late parents bought in 1957, but it’s home. (more…)

Whites Drop to 66% of US Population

According to an analysis of the latest Analysis of Census Bureau data by William Frey, Brookings Institution, Whites have dropped to 66 percent of the total American population, down from 76.6% in 1990.

Only six states (Maine - 96.0%; Vermont - 96.0%; West Virginia - 94.6%; New Hampshire - 93.9%; Iowa - 91.5%; and North Dakota - 90.9%) are still more than 90 percent White, and all other states have more than ten percent non-White populations with the worst US continental state being New Mexico, which only has a 42.8% White population. The District of Columbia has a 29.7% White population, while Hawaii only has a 23% White population. (….Full Article)

I was born to Jewish parents. Some of my more distant family died in the European Wars of the 20th century. Yet, I am a Christian. My conversion was a long process and began when I was a student at an Israeli high-school on a kibbutz in the Jordan Valley. There, I learned that Jesus’ name in Hebrew had been changed so that it is now an acronym meaning “Be His Name and Memories Forgotten.” Hitler’s name had not been touched, hence - I thought - Jesus must have committed a very serious crime. Indeed he had. By putting the emphasis on faith and love he seriously threatened the Pharisees - later to be called Rabbis - and their monopoly on the interpretation of the Old Testament.

The Pharisees used their interpretation, called the Talmud, to create a convenient life for their group. For this, Jesus called them hypocrites. It took me a long time to walk the rest of the way to the Christian Church. One of the roadblocks was the Pharisaic propaganda that teaches that Judaism is both a religion and an ethnic group, implying thus that a Jew cannot convert. A more serious problem was the Christian teaching that we are all sinners. Jews believe they are born perfect; from childhood they are told they are the Chosen People. (more…)

Jeffrey Epstein craved big homes, elite friends - and, investigators say, underage girls

WINGED GARGOYLES guarded the gate at Jeffrey Epstein’s Palm Beach mansion. Inside, hidden cameras trolled two rooms, while the girls came and went.

For the police detectives who sifted through the garbage outside and kept records of visitors, it was the lair of a troubling target.

Epstein, one of the most mysterious of the country’s mega-rich, was known as much for his secrecy as for his love of fine things: magnificent homes, private jets, beautiful women, friendships with the world’s elite.

But at Palm Beach police headquarters, he was becoming known for something else: the regular arrival of teenage girls he hired to give him massages and, police say, perform sexual favors.

Epstein was different from most sexual abuse suspects; he was far more powerful. He counted among his friends former President Bill Clinton, Donald Trump and Prince Andrew, along with some of the most prominent legal, scientific and business minds in the country.

Those Who Hire Illegal Aliens Cause Americans 9,125 Deaths Annually

Iowa’s United States Congressman Steve King told a crowd in Des Moines in June, “Illegal aliens cause the death of 25 American citizens every day…13 by drunken driving and 12 by stabbings or gun fire.”

That daily figure adds up to 9,125 deaths annually caused primarily by illegal alien Mexicans residing in America. Mike Rosen, radio talk show host in Denver, said it wasn’t significant when you consider our country of 300 million. A listener corrected him, “It’s not significant unless it’s your father or family member who gets killed.”

More sobering, almost eight times as many deaths of civilian Americans have occurred in our own country in three years than deaths to our soldiers in the Iraq and Afghanistan war zones. It’s safer in a war zone than on our own highways and in our own homes in America. At the same time, South Koreans are safer in their own homes with 37,000 American troops guarding their border from North Korea for the past 40 years–with our troops and tax dollars–than we are in our own country.

Why do Americans suffer this kind of carnage in their own nation? Who is to blame? (….Full Article)

‘US, Israel Planned Middle East War’

New York - The US government was closely involved in the planning of Israel’s military operations against Islamic militant group Hezbollah even before the July 12 kidnapping of two Israeli soldiers, The New Yorker magazine reported in its latest issue.

The kidnapping triggered a month-long Israeli operation in South Lebanon that is expected to come to an end on Monday.

But Pulitzer Prize-winning US journalist Seymour Hersh writes that President George W Bush and vice president Dick Cheney were convinced that a successful Israeli bombing campaign against Hezbollah could ease Israel’s security concerns and also serve as a prelude to a potential US pre-emptive attack to destroy Iran’s nuclear installations.

Citing an unnamed Middle East expert with knowledge of the current thinking of the Israeli and US governments, Israel had devised a plan for attacking Hezbollah - and shared it with Bush administration officials - well before the July 12 kidnappings. (….Full Article)

As the 6am ceasefire takes effect… the real war begins

“The Independent” — – The real war in Lebanon begins today. The world may believe - and Israel may believe - that the UN ceasefire due to come into effect at 6am today will mark the beginning of the end of the latest dirty war in Lebanon after up to 1,000 Lebanese civilians and more than 30 Israeli civilians have been killed. But the reality is quite different and will suffer no such self-delusion: the Israeli army, reeling under the Hizbollah’s onslaught of the past 24 hours, is now facing the harshest guerrilla war in its history. And it is a war they may well lose.

In all, at least 39 - possibly 43 - Israeli soldiers have been killed in the past day as Hizbollah guerrillas, still launching missiles into Israel itself, have fought back against Israel’s massive land invasion into Lebanon.

Israeli military authorities talked of “cleaning” and “mopping up” operations by their soldiers south of the Litani river but, to the Lebanese, it seems as if it is the Hizbollah that have been doing the “mopping up”. By last night, the Israelis had not even been able to reach the dead crew of a helicopter - shot down on Saturday night - which crashed into a Lebanese valley.

Officially, Israel has now accepted the UN ceasefire that calls for an end to all Israeli offensive military operations and Hizbollah attacks, and the Hizbollah have stated that they will abide by the ceasefire - providing no Israeli troops remain inside Lebanon. But 10,000 Israeli soldiers - the Israelis even suggest 30,000, although no one in Beirut takes that seriously - have now entered the country and every one of them is a Hizbollah target. The Minuteman Project, the controversial border watchdog, is now targeting companies that hire undocumented workers

Employers, brace yourselves. From Atlanta to Chicago to Denver, the Minutemen are setting their sights on you. This army of angry citizens plans to police your workplace, and if they find any illegals, they’ll report you to the government.

In case you’ve never heard of it, the Minuteman movement originated two years ago and gained notoriety for sending members armed with binoculars to states that border Mexico. When the volunteers spot people entering the country, they call the U.S. Border Patrol. Critics, including President George W. Bush, characterize them as “vigilantes.”

Now dozens of branches are popping up in the heartland. They’re targeting companies as well as workers. “If we can take one big employer down — handcuffs, federal prison terms, their property seized — we will make a great step forward toward having our laws enforced,” proclaims Jim Gilchrist, a 56-year-old retired accountant who founded the Minuteman Project in California in 2004 out of anger at illegal immigration. He says his group, which is supported by dues and donations, has seen its national membership jump by 1,000 since April, to 2,500. A like-minded group, the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, which claims 8,000 members in 49 chapters, also has begun targeting employers who use day laborers. (….Full Article)

Comverse execs charged with stock-option fraud
CEO still at large with $60 million

The U.S. Justice Department and the Securities and Exchange Commission said Wednesday that the slush fund was part of an elaborate fraud carried out by three former senior executives of Comverse (nasdaq: CMVT - news - people ), including former CEO and founder Jacob “Kobi” Alexander (pictured).

Options amassed in the secret account were doled out to real employees without the approval of the board’s compensation committee, the government contends. In addition, Alexander and his finance chief allegedly tried to conceal the slush fund from the board and from the company’s outside auditors.

The Justice Department says Alexander wired $60 million from his own brokerage account to Israel “in an attempt to conceal the proceeds from the U.S. authorities.” (….Full Article)

According to the sources, Bush 41 has been communicating with his own intimate circle, including former National Security Advisor Brent Scowcroft, and former Secretary of State James Baker III, along with former President Bill Clinton, about G.W.’s over-the-top support for Israel’s current self-destructive assault on Lebanon. The ex-President has reportedly conveyed to his close associates that he fears that G.W. is in a messianic state and is “unreachable,” even by such close advisors as Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Insight magazine, the online publication of the Washington Times, buttressed this account, reporting in early August that, for the first time, a rift has developed between Rice and President Bush, over the President’s one-sided support for Israel, in the ongoing Israeli Defense Forces invasion of Lebanon.

24 IDF soldiers killed Saturday in south Lebanon

Twenty-four Israel Defense Forces soldiers were killed and another 11 seriously wounded in heavy clashes Saturday with Hezbollah forces in south Lebanon, after Israel dramatically expanded its ground operation in the area.

Five air crewmen were believed to be dead after an Israel Air Force helicopter was shot down by Hezbollah fire late Saturday, the IDF said. Hezbollah claimed the helicopter was struck by an anti-tank missile. IDF sources confirmed a helicopter had gone down and that the five crewmen were missing.(….Full Article)

I got your David Horowitz letter and report on the show – thanks for that – it’s important to keep the case before the public. Please give Mike Piper and Christopher Bollyn my thanks as well.

Regarding Horowitz – all too typical. I met and interviewed Stokely Carmichael in 1966 when he came to the University of Sir George Williams, where I was then assistant editor of the University’s Mature student newspaper, it was during the “Free Speech Movements,” heyday at Berkeley, which had swung over to Canada during that era. Curt, that man was no fool; believe me, he knew exactly that his group was being exploited! His dislike of them [Remember this letter is censored] was visible and visceral – I can attest to that. I was present at some of those “no holds barred,” encounters, he knew they were the invisible power behind the Civil Rights movement and he also knew they many were responsible for bringing his people to North America during the slave era.
